Ancient and modern Azerbaijan
The four-day Azerbaijan cultural tour will introduce you to the culture and history of the Azerbaijan people, as well as the unique ancient and modern architecture of the country. The tour program is aimed to give you an opportunity to see Baku that considerably changed in the last decade and now looks like a modern European city, and then visit the Azerbaijan historical regions, which still preserve an old lifestyle.

Day 1
Arrival in Baku
Arrival in Baku. You will be met by the driver and transferred to the hotel. Check-in at noon. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2
Baku City Tour – Gobustan (60 km from Baku)
Baku sightseeing tour. Visit to Memory Alley - “Shehidler Khiyabany”, panoramic view of Baku city from the park. Visit to medieval fortress of Old Baku - Icheri-Sheher (XV-XVII c.c.), Maiden's Tower (IX c.), the Palace of the Shirvans (XV c.), UNESCO Heritage site, medieval Caravanserai (XVc.), medieval Markets square, handmade carpet’s workshop art studio.
Trip to Mud volcanoes and Museum of rock paintings “Gobustan”
Gobustan (the territory of Gobu) is famous for its archeological monuments. Travel 30 miles southwest of Baku along the Caspian shore to the volcanic desert, where rocks covered with drawings stand amidst chaos of stones and mountains. There are more than 4,000 rock drawings left by artists of the Neolithic period. Overnight at the hotel
Day 3
Baku – Shamakhi – Lahij – Sheki
Visit to Diri-Baba mausoleum in Maraza village. In Shamakhi visit to historical mosque Juma (Friday), mausoleum of Yeddi Gumbez – (Seven Domes) – graveyard of Shirvanshahs. Drive through Girdimanchay River’s canyon to visit Lahij, the 5th century place rich in its historic and architectural values. Lahij is an ancient village with charming eye-catching sidewalks inlaid by stones. It is famous for medieval water supply and sewage systems as well as traditional workshops making jewelry, copperware, carpets, pottery, daggers, and iron tools. Continue way to Sheki. Arrival to Sheki. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 4
Sheki – Kish – Lagodekhi Border
Sheki sightseeing tour. Visit to the local medieval fortress, Palace of Shaki Khans, local Museum of History, handicrafts workshop, panoramic view of the town, local mosque, madrasah, and local bazaar. Trip to village Kish near Sheki town, where you will see the first church in Caucasus (I c.). Later transfer to Azerbaijan-Georgian border. Cross a border in the afternoon.
